I'm running because I believe Calgary is a diverse, entrepreneurial and dynamic city, and should be represented in Ottawa by a progressive voice. My core values are simple: Canada should be fiscally prudent, socially progressive and environmentally responsible at home and abroad. Many Calgarians I've spoken to share these beliefs, and my goal is to help our city take a leading role in promoting these values in Canada and around the world.

The by-election in Calgary Centre is on November 26. It is our chance to begin to set  the country back on track. The Conservatives do not deserve to hold every seat in Calgary and should not have absolute power over our role in national politics. The rejuvenated Liberal Party should have a voice so progressive values from an Alberta perspective can inform and transform our national politics.

If like me you are deeply concerned about the direction of our country. If you are concerned that Canadian values of generosity of spirit, civility and compassion are being driven out of our national politics by a government that is off course, there is action that you can take.

After the 2011 election I got involved in rebuilding the Liberal party of Canada because I believe we need a voice of the centre in Canadian politics. This involved facilitating several sessions with Liberals from across Canada (both urban and rural) over the last year to affirm what it means to be a Liberal in the 21st century. From listening to approximately 900 people, I distilled the following statement of Canadian Liberal values.
"Liberals have clear and widely shared values. Liberals are socially progressive, fiscally prudent, and are concerned about the environment. They believe in social justice, intergenerational equity and respect individual freedoms. They believe in bilingualism and multi-culturalism in Canada and they want to be a positive force in the world.

They want public policy to be based on a thoughtful consideration of facts. They are concerned that the Conservatives are driving the country away from these values. Liberals are proud of the Canada that the Liberal Party built but also want to move on to face 21st century challenges rather than dwell in the past."
I share these values.

Do you?

If so, fight to create a Canada that is fiscally prudent, socially progressive, and environmentally responsible, both at home and abroad.
